Prescription: Murder
by W Link & R Levinson
Directed by Mark Howard
Murder, manipulation and one very persistent detective arrive in a thrilling stage classic that introduced the world to Columbo long before the famous raincoat became a television icon.
Prescription: Murder is the gripping original story that launched one of crime fiction’s most beloved investigators. Stylish, sharp and packed with tension, it draws audiences into a dangerous battle of wits where appearances are carefully constructed and every conversation hides another layer of deceit.
Brilliant psychiatrist Dr Roy Flemming seems to have everything: intelligence, wealth and a glamorous life built on status and control. But beneath the polished surface lies a deadly plan. Convinced he can outsmart the law, he carefully orchestrates the perfect murder with chilling precision. There is only one obstacle standing in his way… Lieutenant Columbo.
With his crumpled appearance, hesitant manner and endless stream of “just one more thing” questions, Columbo hardly seems threatening at first glance. Yet behind the shambling exterior lurks a razor-sharp mind that refuses to let go of the smallest inconsistency.
As the investigation tightens, a fascinating psychological duel unfolds between two men determined to outmanoeuvre one another.
Full of suspense, dark humour and clever twists, Prescription: Murder remains a masterclass in classic detective storytelling. Audiences will delight in watching the net slowly close as Columbo unravels a web of lies one tiny detail at a time.
Smart, atmospheric and wickedly entertaining, this is a must-see evening for lovers of mystery, suspense and classic crime drama.
