Drama Club

We are a group of live theatre enthusiasts based at Preston Playhouse

Come along and join a bunch of like-minded people and make some new friends as well as discovering the magic behind live theatre. We need actors, directors, set builders and painters, technicians and lots, lots more……

Our Story

Preston Drama Club (PDC) put on their first production in 1933. The play was 'Ebbtide', written and produced by Robert Lambert, and performed at Bairstow Street School, Avenham, Preston. Later that year the group moved to Grimshaw Street School, where they stayed until 1949, the year Columba Hall, today's Playhouse building, was completed as a theatre.

Preston Drama Club currently performs six productions a season which begins in September and ends in June.

We also hold occasional workshops and social events, including “Members' Nights”, held in the theatre bar, during the season when the theatre is available.

New members are always welcome. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18, Full Membership is £10 per year (which includes a free PDC Polo Shirt among other benefits) while Associate Membership is currently free - the only requirements are a desire to get involved and a willingness to help.
